DEHRADUN। A workshop on Insurance and Risk Management was conducted by UJVN Limited in association with Marsh India Limited for the projects and powerhouses of UJVNL. In the workshop experts of the field gave presentation on various aspects of risk management and insurance in hydropower projects and powerplants of UJVNL.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Managing Director of UJVNL Mr. Sandeep Singhal. Addressing the participants Mr. Sandeep Singhal said that disasters and accidents can happen anywhere and anytime. Although the best way of protection is to remain alert and follow safety rules but in case of damages due to disasters, natural calamities and accidents the best way to compensate the loss is comprehensive insurance of projects and powerplants. Mr. Singhal said that most of the powerplants and projects of UJVNL are located in the far and remote areas and there are more chances of natural disasters in such type of areas. Apart from it the machines and equipments of powerplants also have risk of accidents. Therefore, risk management is necessary to identify the risks and deal with them appropriately. Mr. Sandeep Singhal said that we can minimise the loss by adopting due processes under risk management plan.
In the workshop Mr. Anuj Pratap Singh, President Energy & Infra, Marsh India Limited highlighted the importance of risk management and insurance. Senior Vice President Power Practice Mr.Gautam Pant told about the cyber risks and environmental pollution liabilities. He also talked about the insurance provisions for compensating generation losses in case of damage due to disasters and accidents. Senior Vice President Construction Practices Mr. Abhishek Shankar told about the importance of Owner’s Controlled Insurance Program in reference to nigam’s Lakwar Vyasi projects.
Executive Director Energy Risks Mr. Sanjay Pugalia talked about the operation risks and various other losses of hydropower plants.
Those present in the workshop include Director Operations UJVNL Mr. Purushottam Singh, Director Projects Mr. S.C.Baluni, Director Finance Mr. Sudhakar Badoni, Executive Director Mr. Rajendra Singh alongwith other officials of UJVNL.
